The city police are on the lookout for JD(S) leader Surendra Babu s driver Satish and Murali, the owner of a farmhouse in Anantapur, both of whom are absconding, in connection with the mysterious death of Kannada actress Hemshree.

Surendra Babu, a JD(S) leader and realtor, has been arrested based on a complaint filed by the actress father. Babu was produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court and remanded to 10 days in police custody. He is being interrogated and very soon, we will get full details of this case, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) H.S. Revanna. Police efforts to trace Satish and Murali hit a roadblock after the two switched off their mobile phones, a senior police official said. It was Satish, the driver, who drove Surendra Babu and his wife Hemashree to Murali s farmhouse in Anantapur.

These two people were the last who saw the actress alive and we believe they can give us more details on the case than anyone else. We are sure we will be able to catch up with them soon , the official added.

Police who are also working on establishing the motive for the crime, are keenly looking into the not-so-happily married angle. Hemashree, who used to act in Kannada serials and was married to Babu for 16 months, had previously filed a police complaint stating that her parents had married her forcibly . Subsequently, she had also complained to the then Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Alok Kumar that she was being harassed by her husband.

We are looking at their marriage history as it can also give us some strong motive for crime , the official said.
