Job Title: Freight Forwarding Officer Job Code: ENERGY VC35329 Location: Lagos
Job Responsibilities
- Receive and process all information about materials imported into Nigeria directly by the Project and sometimes assist in the Contractors operations
- Instruct and coordinate operational activities delegated to other COMPANY entities, specifically air and sea freight shipping and import operations, with a special care for urgent materials.
- Liaise with various external parties in order to secure the necessary permits and relevant approvals.
- Liaise with internal users and interface with reception and warehouse personnel /facilities to ensure prompt delivery.
- Comply with finance processes & procedures related to his activities, audits, invoices technical certification, shipping activity payments.
- Track and follow exports and temporary imports activities for effective repair and return of materials
- Perform office activities: Maintain documentation, record keeping/filing system, including final Customs release documentation.
- Direct and guide Company personnel and vendors concerning Nigerian laws, practices and government regulatory bodies on a daily basis.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2/3 years experience in Oil and Gas industry, including some knowledge of Procurement, Supply Chain and Logistics activities.
- Knowledge of international transport regulation, standards and documentation for air freight and sea freight.
- Fluent English is mandatory.

On Thin Ice: Man's Truck Falls through Skating Rink while Doing …
Police say a man s truck fell through the ice at a local skating rink Jan. 18 while he was doing donuts.
According to the report, an officer was dispatched to the Longacre Road skating rink, 7343 N. Longacre Rd., for a report of a car stuck on the ice. When police arrived they observed a car partially submerged in the ice and man in the driver s side revving the engine.
The driver told police he left a friend s house and thought it would be fun to do some donuts on the ice. After having his fun, the driver decided to leave and that s when the truck got stuck.
Police called a towing company to help remove the truck.
The driver wasn’t injuried but was cited by police for damage to property.

Secretary of State Ruth Johnson said her office has revoked the driving certificate of a Detroit based truck driving school. Johnson said, Great Truckers Driving School was encouraging students to apply for commercial driver licenses with fake documents. The school s certificate was revoked and the company was fined $34,000. The school, operated by Sukhjit Sandhu and Rajinder Sandhu, provided out-of-state students with fake lease agreements that listed the addresses of vacant buildings and homes of random people unconnected to the students. The documents were used by students to falsely show they lived in Michigan when they applied for a CDL, which are required for drivers who operate commercial vehicles like large trucks and buses. “Providing false information when obtaining a driver s license or state ID card is a significant violation and we will hold those responsible to account,” Johnson said. “Driver s licenses and state-issued ID cards have many critical uses, such as buying age-limited items, opening bank accounts and accessing government services.” Rajinder Sandhu was also fined $13,000 and his instructor certificate was revoked. More than 85 CDLs or CDL temporary instruction permits obtained with the false documents from Great Truckers Driving School have been cancelled. “I thank our diligent branch office staff for discovering this fraudulent activity and reporting it,” Johnson said. “Because of them, we were able to investigate this matter, take appropriate action and refer the matter to law enforcement authorities.” Michigan driver s license or ID card applicants must present at least two residency documents, such as lease agreements and utility bills, to prove they live in the state, as well as other pieces of identification, such as a Social Security card, government-issued photo ID and birth certificate.
